What's Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos #1 worth in 2025?
Sgt. Fury #1 is the first appearance of Nick Fury. The highest recorded copy graded NM 9.4 sold for $28,000 in 2011. A NM/MT 9.8 would easily bring $100,000 if found. The mid and low grades have fluctuated a bit as the popularity of the movie franchises surge and wains. FN+ 6.5 from 2009 to current have from $1,000 to $2,000 respectively while enjoying a high value of $2,300 in 2013. GD 2.0s have performed better going from $150 to around $500 currently. This book wouldn't be our fist choice for building value but it should be reliable in the lower grades. It is always important to remember there are more buyers to sell to the lower the cost.
Why is this comic book valuable?
A character that would become the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. and a master manipulator in the Marvel Universe. His prominence was a focal point of the Avengers movies and truly through much of the MCUs various phases. The book has enjoyed the exposure as it has made huge gains in value since the early 2000s after being relatively obscure in comparison during the 80s and 90s.
