A GD 2.0 copy of X-Men #96 sold for $30 in 2013 and goes for more today. FN 6.0 copies of this issue have gone up from $22 to closer to $80 today. The highest graded copy to ever sell was a 9.8 that sold for $1,300 in 2019.
Why is this comic book valuable?
X-Men #96 is known for being the first issue to have Wolverine go all out in a fight. In issue 96, Wolverine takes the place of Thunderbird in the X-Men roster as the hotheaded and aggressive member of the team. At the time, this change was seen a controversial use of Wolverine’s character making this a collector favorite.
