What's Showcase #22 worth in 2025?

Showcase #22 is valuable because it's the first appearance of the all new Green Lantern for the Silver Age of comics. There only five copies of this book known in VF/NM 9.0 or better. Extremely rare in high grade and the values reflect that. The highest graded copy (NM- 9.2) sold for nearly $150,000 in 2017. Mid grade copies are somewhat erratic. The most recent copy sold for $6,200 while that same price was reached as a high in 2011. Yet a FN 6.0 brought $9,000 back in 2017. Low grade copies appear a bit more stable at $1,500 currently as opposed to just $350 in 2009. Rumors abound about a new movie making this one to watch.

Why is this comic book valuable?

DC completely reworked the Green Lantern's origin for this new version. Based in the ever popular science fiction of the day, Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern's power would be bestowed upon him by an alien, Abin Sur. The influence of current events was heavily on display with the sci-fi treatment as well as Hal being a test pilot much like Buzz Aldrin or Chuck Yeager. DC had successfully rebooted Flash barely more than a year before. The age of super heroes was definitely back!
