"Solomon Grundy, born on a Monday..." starts the famous 19th century nursery rhyme. A rhyme that would be the inspiration for the fictional character, Cyrus Gold, an evile-doer who would be killed and reincarnated in Slaughter Swamp outside of Gotham City. All-American Comics #61 is the first appearance of Solomon Grundy, one of DC Comics most interesting and enduring villains. Famous for his run ins with Batman, Superman and the JSA or JLA, the nearly indestructible Grundy is more than some of the Leagues can handle alone. As seminal villain of the Golden Age, this book has found it's way onto a lot of lists as a must have.
