DC Comics // Action Comics

Published September 1942

What's Action Comics #52 worth in 2024?

The mint condition value of Action Comics #52 could be worth well over $50,000 if a 10.0 sold at auction. The highest CGC rated copy sold to date is a 9.4 NM, which is part of the San Francisco Pedigree and sold in November 2016 for $31,070. Earlier that same year a CGC 7.5 sold for $3,346, and a 7.0 sold for $3,629 in September 2011. Most recently a CGC 8.0 sold for $3,960 in November 2019, which would allow for a higher valued mint condition copy to sell for much more if ever brought to auction.

Why is this comic book valuable?

Published in September 1942 by D.C. Comics, Action Comics #52 features all of its heroes on the cover, from Superman to Zatara, Congo Bill, Vigilante, and finally Americommando. Originally billed at “Mr. American and the Fatman,” this is the first time the duo is called the Americommandos. Superman must save America and the Presidency when a villain uses a non-resistance ray to take over.
