Story Synopsis
The Joker miraculously survives his apparent death-by-knife-wound during his last encounter with Batman, where Batman takes him to a specialist to try to fix his brain, but The Joker gets kidnapped by a new gang, Crime Syndicate, which were constantly looking for a new leader. Causing trouble in the city, trying to steal the priceless Pharaoh Gems, the new gang lures the police away by having a Batman impersonator, Fake Batman ends up killing two cops and bringing commotion, but at the end, he is shot dead and unmasked.
What's Batman #2 worth in 2021?
If someone had a Batman #2 in a CGC NM+ 9.6 would almost certainly sell between $300,000 to $350,000. The most valuable copy on record (CGC NM- 9.2) brought $43,000 in 2010. A CGC FN 6.0 sold for $13,000 in 2019. In 2009 you could most likely have purchased that same issue for $3,000 to $4,000. In 2008 a copy sold for just $1,350 but brought $3,500 in 2019.
Why is this comic book valuable?
Batman #2 is only the 2nd appearance of the Joker and Catwoman (not in costume yet) in the history of comics. There are only 119 unrestored and complete books as reported by the CGC Census. The bright red cover is also extremely difficult to find above a CGC VG/F 5.0 (less than 50 copies over this grade).
