How our auctions work
Every lot starts at $1 with no reserve. Enter the most you are willing to pay and we bid for you, one increment at a time, up to that amount. Any bid in a lot's last minute resets its clock to two minutes. A 3% buyer's premium is added to the hammer price.
Rules and return terms
- $1 start, no reserve. Every lot opens at $1 and sells to the high bidder.
- Secret maximums. Enter the most you are willing to pay; we bid on your behalf one increment at a time, only as high as needed. Nobody sees your maximum.
- Last-minute bids reset the clock. Any bid in a lot's final minute gives everyone two more minutes.
- 3% buyer's premium is added to the hammer price. It is waived when you pay by check or money order, or by wire on invoices of $1,000 or more; call us on 1-800-548-3314 to arrange it. Shipping and any sales tax are computed at checkout.
- A card on file is required to bid. It is never charged automatically; you pay at checkout within 19 days of your first win. Each new win joins your open invoice until you pay it, so your wins ship together. Unpaid wins are cancelled and the account is suspended from bidding.
- Bids are binding. There is no bid retraction.
- Returns. A lot paid within the payment window carries a three-day return privilege from delivery: contact us within three days of the tracked delivery date, then ship it back fully insured; the hammer price and premium are refunded on receipt, shipping is not. Lots marked "Sold As Is, No Return" cannot be returned. Certified books cannot be returned over a difference of opinion on the grade, and no grade is guaranteed for a raw book later submitted to a grading service. A gross cataloging error may be raised in writing within three days of receipt and is handled as a return with shipping refunded.
