After being introduced in All-Star #8, DC completed their "holy three" lineup (along with Superman & Batman) by giving WONDER WOMAN a permanent home in Sensation Comics! All issues of this 40's classic fetch high prices on the market!
A proto-feminist icon, Wonder Woman burst on the scene in 1942 with her appearance as lead-title in DC anthology book, Sensation Comics! And things would never be the same!
Her immediate popularity made it possible for lesser companies to be able to introduce their OWN female super heroes ( and there were a lot of them!)
But WW is the most recognizable, becoming almost synonymous with America itself, the title lasted until 1949, running 109 issues - with amazon Diana Prince busting hearts and Nazi Skulls along the way, aided by Major Steve Trevor - whom between the two there was always palpable sexual-tension!
As with most DC popular characters, Wonder Woman was awarded with her own giant quarterly title, Wonder Woman Comics, which contained stories only featuring her...
But Sensation was not your run-of the-mill anthology book, which were usually padded-out with less deireable humor and generic detective stories.
No - Sensation was the permanent home of highly-regarded heroes WILDCAT, MR.TERRIFIC (until issue #63), and later Sargon The Sorcerer, along with some Superboy stories!
The title morphed into a horror comic, but only with the last few issues.
Wonder woman was such a strong hero, that she endured the lean 50's, only to go on to achieive greater fame in the 60's -present!

The value of Sensation Comics #2 in Mint condition doesnt exist - the highest-selling CGC grade was a VF+ that came up for sale in 2009 and was sold for $4,000. An original VG+ sold in September 2018 for $5,400, with evaluations of the original prints of Sensation Comics skyrocketing. The value of Wonder Woman-based comics has increased dramatically over the past couple of years, with the 2014 reproductions/reprints helping to add value to the original 1941 series. Of the 34 CGC evaluated copies, only two have been VF/NM 9, and four have been restored.
Why is this comic book valuable?
Sensation Comics #2 was published by J. R Publishing Co. in February 1941. Its value lies in the introduction of notable villain Dr. Poison, as well as its woman-forward theme. What's Sensation Comics #5 worth in 2024?
Although we’d love to see one, the value of a mint condition Sensation Comics #5 is unknown. The highest-rated CGC copy was valued at an 8.5 VF+, and was sold privately. The highest quality sold was a CGC 6 F, at a price of $505 in 2004. A bit more recently, a CGC 4.5 VG+ was sold for $1,275 in 2018. On average an original copy of Sensation Comics #5 sells for around $1,000, but we estimate that a mint condition could sell for upwards of $10,000 if one was ever procured. There have only been 16 copies evaluated by CGC, with most being rated at F 5.5 or lower.
Why is this comic book valuable?
This particular copy of Sensation Comics (p. 1942) is valuable due to its unique storylines and introduction of notable villains. Casper Crunch is introduced during “The "Reform" of Caspar Crunch” and Black Pirate Jon Valor’s son is born in “The Treason of Don Diablo.” Keep an eye out for the super rare promo ad All-Star Comics; The Justice Society of America on page 11 of Sensation Comics #5. What's Sensation Comics #6 worth in 2024?
Talk about a valuable comic - 1942’s Sensation Comics #6 has yet to be rated in mint condition, but even a CGC 5 VG/F has sold for over $6,500. This ultra-rare comic is hard to price, because it has been reproduced, but of the 30 copies the CGC has evaluated, most fall in the 5 Fine range and below. A copy that was rated at a .5 poor sold for $1,700 in February 2019, even though it was valued as “incomplete,” meaning a cover, fold, or other distinguishing piece was missing. A CGC 5.5 F- that was completely intact sold for $8,600 at auction, making this comic great for the price - if you can find an unmarred version!
Why is this comic book valuable?
Wonder Woman didn’t always have her golden lasso - after all, it wasn’t introduced until this issue, Sensation Comics #6. During this 68-page comic, Trevor is promoted to Major, and Queen Hippolyte gives Diana (Wonder Woman) her magic lasso, which is immediately put to use. The first appearance of the magic golden lasso makes Sensation Comics #6 ultra-rare and ultra-valuable, as its bearer could use its Power of Truth or infinite elasticity.

What's Sensation Comics #7 worth in 2024?
A mint condition copy of Sensation Comics #7 could sell for $10,000 or more, if one is ever sold. Two copies that were rated a CGC 9.4 NM were sold for an average of $5,000 each in May 2017, with the cheapest copies selling for around $500 in the CGC 5 VG/F range. Only 13 copies have ever been evaluated and certified as unretouched, making this edition of Sensation Comics rare.
Why is this comic book valuable?
The first use of Diana’s Wonder Woman Bracelets of Submission, Magic Lasso, and Tiara is what makes Sensation Comics #7, published 1942, so valuable. The audience is first introduced to the Magic Lasso in #6, making this three-tier punch from Wonder Woman even more valuable. "The Milk Swindle" and "Commissioner Jones's Meat Racket" are notable storylines for this 68-page edition, as well as the introduction of cult-favorite character The Gay Ghost.

Sensation Comics #8 has yet to be evaluated in mint condition, but could easily fetch upwards of $5,000 if brought to auction. The highest-rated edition, a CGC 8 VF sold for $1,540 in 2015, whereas a fine CGC 6 sold for $2,000 in 2018. No copy of this Wonder Woman series has been sold since, making #8 a real steal for the price. Only seven copies have ever been evaluated by the CGC, so make sure that any copy you purchase has not only the CGC rating, but also the front cover print-price of $.10, as the series has been reproduced multiple times.

With only 19 copies ever being CGC valued, #9 is a solid choice for investors and collectors alike. The highest-rated CGC copy was sold back in 2004 at a VF/NM 9, with most copies available in the CGC 5 VG/F range. The February 1943 issue of Sensation Comics has yet to be rated for a mint condition copy. The highest CGC rating has been a 9.2 NM-, which sold for $1,380 in 2003, while more recently a 4.0 VG was sold privately in late 2019 for $406. Sensation Comics #15 has no known mint condition value, but we would estimate it at a minimum of $5,000 if one ever came up for sale. #15 has been scarcely seen in recent years, as the last-known sale happened in 2012. In 2008 a CGC rated 9.2 NM- sold for the price of $2,800. With only 10 unretouched, Universal-rated copies out there, #15 might be extremely hard to obtain, even in a fair condition.

We estimate a mint condition Sensation Comics #19 could sell for upwards of $10,000, but there has yet to be one evaluated by the CGC. The highest-rated edition of this July 1943 print of Sensation Comics was a Near Mint 9.4, sold privately for an unknown sum. In 2018 one of only two Near Mint- Rockford Pedigree rated 9.2 copies was sold for $4,302. In March of 2005 a 3.0 G/VG sold for $160, with most copies selling for around $1,500 at a rating of CGC 8.0 VF.

Sensation Comics #42 was published by D.C. Comics in June 1945 and featured Wonder Woman and the villain Countess Draska Nishki. Wonder Woman has lost her golden lasso during the trial of a spy, and once found it was used against her by the Countess. The script was written by Robert Kanigher, using his alias William Moulton Marston.

Sold for $717 in May 2006, that 9.0 has not come up again for sale at a public auction. In August 2013 an 8.5 sold for $405, and in September 2017 a 5.5 sold for $342. More recently an unretouched 6.5 sold for $288 in November 2019, which is up from a May 2013 value of $208.
