DC Comics // February-March 1959 - October 1985
Issue count: 246

DC decided to re-vamp THE FLASH in the 60's in a new incarnation from his 1940's counterpart. It became a consistently best-selling title for them for over 25 years! If you have early or key issues, there is some value there!

Flash

After giving the NEW, re-vamped Flash a trial run in Showcase, and being a member of popular Justice League of America, DC gave him his own book in 1959.

The new incarnation, based on DC's 1940's character, was an out of the gate success, featuring a vast array of colorful villians and supporting cast, and strong artwork by Carmine Infantino - the definitive Flash artist, who had also drawn the earlier version of the Flash in the late 40's!

The title also featured and introduced Kid Flash, and, later, a co-feature with The Elogated Man - but it's those late 50's- early 60's issues that have been snatched-up and trading hands among collectors for years!

Issue #105

What's Flash #105 worth in 2024?

There are no mint copies of Flash #105 in existance. There are 3 NM 9.4 registered with the CGC Census and there have been only two sales of the book recorded ($30,000 in 2005 and $39,000 in 2011). Since then no higher graded copies have sold. This book is very rare in higher grades (only 17 copies over VF 8.0) but is actually fairly plentiful in mid and lower grades. A FN 6.0 sold recently for $3,300. That same book bought $1,300 in 2009. By comparison a GD 2.0 sold for $400 in 2010 and sold again for $750 just nine years later. If you love the Flash there some decent deals out there but if you want to buy some books that will expand your portfolio there are better opportunities available.

Why is this comic book valuable?

The value of Flash #105 is because it is the first appearance of the Flash in the Silver Age Flash and introduces Barry Allen as the man behind the mask. It also introduces us to Mirror Master, one of the Flash's primary villains. This serves as a 1st issue even though it is the numerical continuation of Flash Comics from the Golden Age that stoped at, you guessed it, issue #104 in 1949.
